Located in the northern zone of
Costa Rica, Monteverde (translated
as “Green Mountain”)
is the most well-known cloud forest
preserve in the country.
It is incredibly rich in biodiversity,
containing more than 2000 species
of plants, 400 kinds of birds, and
100 different species of mammals
within its 26,000 acres.

Arenal Volcano |
ARENAL VOLCANO |
The Arenal Volcano is situated near
the community of La Fortuna, where
it dominates the village landscape.
The volcanic hot springs at Tabacón
are naturally heated to the perfect
temperature. Enjoy the beauty and
soothing feeling of the mineral
water, waterfalls, 12 pools and
indoor Jacuzzi, all while watching
the glowing hot boulders descend
from the volcano.
After relaxing, take a hike down
to La Fortuna Waterfall. The water
drops more than 150 feet from the
cliff, creating an amazing sight
and a refreshing pool that is perfect
for a swim.
Other optional activities around
La Fortuna include canopy tours,
riverboat tours, hiking in the nearby
Venado Caves, fishing in Arenal
Lake, windsurfing, and exploring
the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge.

Manuel
Antonio National Park |
MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK |
Lying on the Pacific coast 7 kilometers
south of the town of Quepos, Manuel
Antonio was created in
1972 with an area of 683 hectares
on land and 55,000 more in the sea.
This park has a remarkably long
list of animals inhabiting it: brown
pelicans, brown boobies, tyrant
hawk-eagles, gray-headed chachalacas,
Solater’s ant bird, coatimundis,
two- and three-toed sloths, anteaters,
and ocelots, among many others.
Beware of the monkeys – they
are notorious for stealing food.
And be sure to take a trip down
to the beach for sights you won’t
want to miss.
