This
course is offered to students who master
an intermediate level of the grammatical
structures of the Spanish language and who
wish to achieve a fluent communication.
At this level, the course seeks to develop
reading and listening skills, and focuses
primarily on oral expression. During the
course, reading, discussion and analysis
are encouraged. |
GENERAL OBJECTIVE |
To
develop in the student the necessary skills
to express himself in public clearly and
precisely.

SPECIFIC
OBJECTIVES |
1- Succeed
in developing fluency in oral communication.
2- Increase and apply the student´s
critical-analytical capacity.
3- Encourage objectivity in the discussion
forums.
4- Eliminate speech vices that hinder a good
communication.
5- Use some of the basic methods and styles
of oral expression. |
CONTENTS |
1- Reading
and analysis of Costa Rican and Latin American
stories.
2- Reading and presentation of articles on
the main problems in Costa Rica and Latin
America.
3- Do surveys and interviews on interesting
subjects.
4- See and analyze Latin American movies.
5- Introduce biographies of Latin American
distinguished personalities.
6- Introduce controversial current affairs.
7- Presentations of Latin American countries. |
METHODOLOGY |
1-
During each session, an assigned topic will
be discussed.
2- Analysis of various articles.
3- Research on the Internet or in Spanish
language newspapers about current affairs,
of world or national importance.
4- Analysis and discussion of controversial
topics.
5- Constant practice of oral production.
6- Individual readings and group discussions.
7- Teacher-guided presentations and practices. |
SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES |
1- Movies
in Spanish or another language (other than
English) with Spanish subtitles.
2- Short readings on social topics and written
by Latin American authors.
3- Listen to some songs of Latin singers.
