OVERVIEW |
For
advanced level students who already communicate
efficiently in Spanish. The purpose of the
course is to refine the language through:
grammatical analysis, vocabulary, sayings
and colloquial expressions. Lecture and
composition of complex texts are also included.
The course enriches the study of the Spanish
language, through themes of history, literature
and ecology. This course emphasizes practice,
communication, and uses more complex syntactic
and morphologic aspects. The correct usage
of oral and written Spanish is emphasized.
At the successful completion of this course,
the student will be able to express his/her
ideas and opinions fluently in Spanish,
orally as well as in writing. |

Week
1:
1. Synopsis of the Subjunctive Mode The division
of syllables, and the rules of basic accentuation
2. Analysis of the influence of "with"
verbs and impersonal expressions
3. Accentuation of diphthongs and tripthongs
4. Accentuation of compound words and the
monosyllables Activities:
1. Practice of vocabulary in relation to.

• The body: organs, parts, diseases,
etc.
2. Critical readings of newspapers articles
and / or magazines Week 2:
1. Past Perfect Subjunctive. Form and usage
of Ordinal numbers
2. Use of the conditional and Imperfect Subjunctive
for courtesy
3. Conditional for probability and conjecture
4. Process of writing a description
5. Review of imperative (in order to better
understand the subjunctive)
6. Explanation of the usage of “vos”

1. Analysis of literature and journalistic
texts
2. Work with popular sayings and idioms
3. Discussion of traditional social relationships
